Eventide Cloud-based NexLog DX-Series Recording and Archiving Solutions

Introduction:

Eventide offers several cloud-based and virtualized solutions for recording, archiving and/or back-up.

NexLog DX-Series “Open Virtual Appliance” Recording Solution (Part No. VM740DX):

The VM740DX Open Virtual Appliance (OVA) is a complete IP-based recording solution. The software features and functions of VM740DX are identical to a turnkey NexLog DX-Series recorder. The VM740DX can be hosted in VMWare vSphere ESXi environments that are running on either customer-owned hardware or on private/public cloud environments that Eventide supports. Please refer to the minimum VM hardware profile, below. Note:  For applications involving Hyper-V or other hypervisors, please contact Eventide sales for more information.

Minimum VM Hardware Profile: 4 Xeon or i7 cores, each at 2GHz or higher; 16GB RAM; 1 TB of storage capacity with at least 100MB/s write speed.  The maximum supported storage is 18 TB.

Delivery & Deployment:  Eventide delivers an “.ova” file containing the VM740DX software and any add-on Eventide license keys that were ordered. The Eventide partner works with the customer to deploy, provision, and support the VM740DX in a supported Virtual Machine environment.

Recording from Hardware-based and Remote Sources:  Eventide’s optional Smart Edge Capture Device (SECD) can collect audio and metadata from IP-SPAN, Analog, Digital PBX, T1 or E1 sources. The SECD caches, timestamps, and reliably forwards the digitized audio and data to the VM740DX.

NexLog DX-Series “Amazon Machine Image” Recording Solution (Part No. VM740DX-AMI):

The VM740DX-AMI (Amazon Machine Image) is a complete IP-based recording solution.  The software features and functions of VM740DX-AMI are identical to a turnkey NexLog DX-Series recorder.  The VM740DX-AMI can only be hosted within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud environment.

Delivery & Deployment:  Eventide delivers an Amazon Machine Image to a partner’s AWS account.  The partner then deploys, provisions, and supports the VM740DX-AMI within their AWS account structure.

Recording from Hardware-based and Remote Sources:  Eventide’s optional Smart Edge Capture Devices (SECD) can collect audio and metadata from IP-SPAN, Analog, Digital PBX, T1 or E1 sources.  The SECD caches, timestamps, and reliably forwards the digitized audio and data to the VM740DX-AMI.

NexLog DX-Series Cloud Archive Server (Part Number VM740DX-CA):

The VM740DX-CA Cloud Archive Server can augment any NexLog 740 DX-Series recorder by providing both backup and disaster recovery capabilities in the Cloud.  The VM740DX-CA Cloud Archive Server provides the significant advantages of rapid retrieval and fully-featured replay of backed-up recordings, using the same familiar MediaWorks DX web-based client that is used with a turnkey or virtual NexLog DX-Series source recorder.

Delivery:  Eventide delivers the VM740DX-CA Cloud Archive software as an .ova file (for VMware) or as an Amazon Machine Image (for AWS).  Eventide also delivers license key(s) to be applied to the source NexLog 740 DX-series recorder(s) that enable connectivity to the VM740DX-CA Cloud Archive Server.

Deployment:  The Eventide partner deploys, provisions, and supports the Cloud Archive software by installing the VM740-CA (.ova) or VM740DX-CA (AMI) in a supported cloud (virtual) environment.

Support for Cloud-based Network Attached Storage (Part No. VM740DX-NAS):

The VM740DX-NAS capability is meant to augment a NexLog DX-Series recorder by enabling support for archiving to a cloud-hosted Network Attached Storage (NAS) – for long term storage and disaster recovery.

Delivery: Eventide delivers an add-on license key to be applied to a NexLog DX-Series recorder (either hardware-based turnkey recorder or virtual recorder).

Deployment: The Eventide partner adds the VM740DX-NAS license key and configures the NexLog DX-Series recorder’s archiving feature to include the VM740DX-NAS location.

Supported Environments: The VM740DX-NAS feature will work with any public cloud-hosted NAS appliance that supports the CIFS/SMB protocols. The Amazon Cloud Storage Gateway Appliance is one example of several NAS options that are available from Amazon.

Security Note:

The security posture of the VM740DX, VM740DX-AMI or VM740DX-CA is identical to that of any other NexLog DX-Series recording system. They are all closed appliances with no access at the operating system-level. However, the same attention to details concerning perimeter and firewall control apply, regardless of whether hosting on-premise or in the public cloud. Refer to your public cloud provider for guidance regarding further access security controls.
